How to get everyone to come over

Want to know how to get all sorts of people to come over?

Do like the Celo Community Center and have a GIANT YARD SALE! (I mean, who can resist?)

Here are some choice items.

Little known fact: I went to high school with Randy, the cowboy.

Nobody seemed to want this, but it would be great if you were trying to bulk up.

More local vibes

Pete McWhirter won the singer/songwriter contest at the Switzerland Cafe last month. He got $100 and an invitation to come back and play his own show. He decided to split the evening with the second- and third-place winners, one of whom was

Polly Lorien. It was a fine evening of singing, and the food up there is pretty good, too.

Bob & Paul & Knife & Fork

Bob Early and Paul Feldman layin' it down at Knife and Fork in Spruce Pine. This is the only thing that could make their food any better.

Pickin' Dobro at the Celo Inn

Gerry Brown, picking the Dobro during a Celo Inn concert with the country band Deep River. Gerry lived here in the late '70s - early '80s and now lives in Asheville. It was a good show.

The party in the woods tonight

Yeah, who says there's nothing to do out here in the woods? Here's just a smattering of excellent social events from this summer. And don't even get me started on the weddings.

A terrific party at the Larson's pond. Homebrew, klezmer, swimming.

Scott and Elizabeth's farm dinner. Onion soup, beef bourguingnon, live jazz.

Gaelen and Nicole's farm dinner. Lamb crepes, amazing gnocchi, and the camaraderie of the rain.

And mad props go to Jody Pred and Jennifer Sword, who hosted not one but three (3!) outdoor music parties.

Wanda and Rob Levin, deep in conversation at Gaelen and Nicole's dinner.

Luca joins in with the band at Jody's.

Cabana stripe bowels

They are usually pretty hard to find.

The Celophoto boys are out of town.
