Margot Rides a Wave

We spent last weekend at Edisto Bach, SC. on a brief get-away. Here, Margot demonstrates her special "otter" techniaque for riding waves, captured in slow motion.

Woah! This is what Christopher Hodshon found in his chicken house the other day--a blacksnake attempting to swallow one of the golf balls he'd put in there to encourage the chickens to lay in the box. Thanks to Charlie Hodshon for sending over this picture.

Tammy says we're having a "luscious" spring, and so far, nothing has been more luscious than the locusts.


Except maybe the Chinese fringe tree.

And we've still got laurels and rhododendrons to come.

(The poison ivy is also looking pretty righteous, but nobody wants to hear about that.)

Chicken Tree

I just put up a show of twelve photographs at a tiny gallery in Durham. Most of the pictures were taken around here--this is one of them. A few of you may recognize it as Gaelen and Nicole's place. I'll put them all on my photo website eventually. If you are in Durham, they are at the Bull City Arts Collaborative until the end of June--reception on June 18, 6-9 PM (that's the Durham Third Friday event for June).

Sunday, 11:00 AM--A Moment in Time

The New York Times website is working on a cool project. They asked anyone anywhere in the world to take a photograph on Sunday, May 2 at 15:00 Universal Time (that's 11:00 AM in Celo) and upload it to their website. They are working on some amazing map-based interface that will let you look at all the pictures. It was supposed to be done in a few days, but they were overwhelmed with 13,000 uploads, so it's not finished yet. I'll post a note when it's available.

Green Mountain Beach

When I was taking pictures of the bike riders last weekend, I couldn't help but notice this nice sunbathing spot across from the store in Green Mountain. Under the little plastic palm tree there is a sign that says "Green Mountain Beach." Look closely and you can see some legs getting tanned. The big electric fan is a nice touch, too. Who wouldn't like a fan at the beach?

Really, if I could make stuff like this up, I would do it, but I can't, so I carry cameras around instead.
