There was an amazing memorial gathering for Tom Mills at Penland on Saturday. It started with a big, quiet circle around this tripod on the knoll. That's Tom's bike suspended above the group. Then everyone went inside for an hour of stories and memories--some of them remarkable. I think everyone learned something new about Tom's life. That's what's so great about that kind of memorial--you learn things about someone you may have known for years.
In addition to a nice album of photos made by Tom, there was a large table covered with photos of Tom, including this gem.
