
This is the cob pizza oven built last weekend by Tom, Gred, and company. Cob, as you may know, has nothing to do with corn cobs; it's a mixture of clay, sand, straw, dirt and water. I can't wait to help fire it up and make some pies. Oddly, the clay class at Penland built a little oven the same day this was built.
Tammy found this really nice time-lapse video of a nice cob oven going up in Costa Rica. It shows the process quite well.

I've been thinking about one of these ovens for years, one of these days I'll get around to building one.
That's a beauty. I like the one up at Penland, too.
