I love this moment when there are layers of different greens climbing up the Blacks, and then, up near the top, it's not quite spring yet.

Robin, In my speech as valedictorian at South Toe Elementary, my mother included something about "the feathering out of Spring, spreading up the mountainside." That line has stuck with me since 1959. (Bob Barrus had the desks in his 8th grade classroom arranged in a U-shape. I was lucky enough to be facing the window and have a clear view of the Blacks all year.)
